Bethel Historical
Society

Founded in the 1950’s The Bethel Historical Society is an independent, non-profit organization made up of a group of people dedicated to preserving Bethel’s history through acquisitions and conservation of property, artifacts and stories. The Society is dedicated to the education of the people of Bethel and surrounding communities. and Monthly programs are presented on varied historical subjects. Also offered are programs geared toward the education of children such as monthly historical craft classes, Walking Tours of Bethel and a Child’s Christmas Victorian Tea.

MEMBERSHIP

The Bethel Historical Society, Inc. cordially invites you to take a membership for 2010. Please join others dedicated to the preservation of the history of Bethel and to stimulating interest in our local, state, and national heritage.

In the past year, the Bethel Historical Society participated in a children’s’ Victorian Christmas Tea Party, Rails through Bethel Slide Show, Antique Appraisal Day, monthly Children’s Craft Programs. In addition, we completed our 15th Annual Historic Walking Tour of Bethel for all Bethel 2nd graders. This past year our main focus has been on planning our P.T. Barnum 200th Birthday Celebration scheduled for September 25-26, 2010. This two-day event will conclude with the presentation to Bethel of a life-size bronze statue of P.T. Barnum followed by a Carnival of Clowns parade.
